Many people may have asked this question to themselves at least once; ''How can I get respect from the others?'' In daily life, we are necessarily struggling for having a status among the people around us,which may sometimes wear us down. When asked why, majority of the people can not give an exact answer to this question even though it is highly clear. It is simply because of human nature. When entering into a new community, we try to make ourselves realized by the others just by following our instincts,which of course does not directly mean that when attracting attention,we are getting respect,as well. Getting respect is more than getting realized. Our speech and attitudes toward the others determine the limits of respect that we get.What we think and say should go with each other.Then, you will be sure that the others will act in the same way toward you. An old saying may help us to get the point;''what goes around,comes around...'' In addition to our extrinsic attitudes, how we behave ourselves is also crucial.That is to say, it will be weird to expect respect from the others if you do not have respect for yourself. First you believe in yourself, and then the rest will absolutely do the same toward you.
All in all, I am of the opinion that this article is highly informative and can give us hand to understand how to get respect.
Whether or not women and men can be friends is a topic opened to discuss. While many support that ''yes,they can be friends'', the others are against to this idea. In this article, some possible results of friendship between men and women was discussed.
Friends can be defined as siblings that are not given by the God. According to this definition, our friends are our siblings at the same time. So, there should be an unbroken bond between us and our ''real'' friends. Some reasons may harm this bond. For instance, the relationship between a man and a woman may turn out a dating,which is a damaging effect on intimate feelings of friendship. This is not their fault but a possibility. Such situation may somehow occur and pose a threat to female-male friendships.
In this article, the writer is also talking about benefits that individuals can get. For example, female-female friendships are generally based on more emotional occasions. In any negative situation that is undergone, you pour your griefs out to your female friend and her reaction may be away from logic. That is to say, she may approach in an emotional way and her efforts to help you may results in more trouble. But in female-male friendships, women are more lucky compared to the other option which is female-female friendship. Men can calmly handle the situation thanks to their nature. In this case, women obtain more benefit in friendships with men.
To sum up, two main possible results of female-male friendships are obvious and each is a common situation. They can differ in some conditions. In my opinion, men and women can be friends regardless of negative samples.
Hi everyone,let me introduce you to this guy! He is Enrico performing at Biscolata advertisement. He is an Italian and as we see on TV he is good at making cookies. I chose this video for the article to show how talented Italian boys are, although his talent shown is just for the advertisement :) Before these ads, a lot of people are not aware of the brand ''Biscolata'' or they do not prefer to buy that much. But after these ads, people especially girls begin to consume more and we witnessed that Biscolata as a brand is really good at advertisement. In addition to their success in ad, they also show us boys' skill in cooking. As it was stated in the previous article, Italian boys get informed about cooking by living with their families for a long time. This can be shown as an advantage for the situation mentioned.
This passage declares that Italian men generally live with their family and it is a signification of good sense and good cooking. They prefer to stay with their families and still feel free and comfortable. I support this idea but it is well-known that boys generally live more independently compared to opposite sex and it is not so common for them to be bound to their families.
In Turkey, it is exact opposite with the situation in Italy. The older the boys get,the more free they become. People around them may criticize them blaming for being a burden on their parents' shoulders. It is not actually something to criticize or interfere. But as it happens in Italy, this situation can be helpful in boys' capabilities about cooking. Now that they spend more time with their mothers, it means that they can learn how to cook or to do some housework. In this case,girls that will get married with these boys are so lucky :)
In addition,if it was so in our country,such boys would sarcastically seem ''mamma's boys''. But in Italy,it is not like that,which is more reasonable to explain this situation. They seem more bound to their parents not poor or ''mamma's boys''. This is another important point for such condition. To sum up, Italian boys are happy with living in their families' homes and this contributes them in some areas such as cooking and the bound between them and their parents. I support this idea and state that it can be helpful for their personal developments and their future wives :)
Here is a video basically demonstrating METU Rowing Team. In this video, you can also see how the boat is driven and the sporter moves on it. I must actually state that it is not as easy as it seems :) You must train for weeks just to set balance on the boat and understand the techniques that you are supposed to do. In addition to some theory based information, like any other sports, rowing has a soul that holds the team together and connected. When I was a sporter in Fethiye Belediyesi Rowing Team, I spent all the time generally with my teammates. They were really friendly and helped me in any challenge,which is a unchanging result of being at the same team. I miss them so much :)
Let me give you some information about METU Rowing Team. It was founded in 1962 in METU and the team maintains the exercises at Eymir Lake. We are such lucky students that we can row in Ankara thanks to METU! :)
Rowing is a sport that many still do not know.It is generally mistaken for canoeing.But after this journal,you will probably understand what kind of sport rowing is. To begin with history, it goes back to 16th century. First rowing race is said to take place at Thames River in England in 16th century.
I was first introduced by rowing 5 years ago and I dealt with it for 2.5 years. It actually was really tiring and demanding to dealt with it. There were training hours twice a day,which is hard to follow everyday.However, it contributed a lot psychologically and physically. Before talking about these advantages,let me introduce you to rowing as a sport. In rowing, the person on the boat drives it considerably by the strength of legs. At this point, arms have active role in collimating and also total strength shown by the person. Balance is another important point in rowing. The boat on which you stand is really light and small in size so you must set such a powerful balance that it can not sink with any move. Boats can be for one,two,four and eight people and each boat can have different features compared to the others.
As for advantages, it contributed a lot in terms of psychological and physical aspects. Thanks to exercises that are scheduled by the trainer,I used to have more systematical life style. That is to say, as I did not want to miss any exercise, I used to plan everything in advance. Psychically, it shaped my body and made me more durable against the diseases due to healthy life it provided me.
In spite of challenges such as tiredness, it was really nice to deal with such sport :)

from local television channel and the other is from foreign channel called CNN
International.
Nowadays, "Gezi
Park" in Istanbul is facing destruction by the government to build a new
shopping center. The citizens are against it and they are are rising up in
all parts of Turkey. Receiving orders from the authorities,the police in Turkey
keep on harming the activists by tear gas and water cannons. Every day a lot of people living in different regions
in Turkey are getting together and protesting the government and its
destructive method triggering violence in the country. At first sight, you may
not make a connection between democracy and this event in our country. But the
recent resistance by the citizens is because of not only a park but our rights
that are taken from us. For instance, today we can not celebrate our national
occasions,violence on women is increasing day by day and a lot of is suffering
from poverty. At this point, it is definitely fair to demand more democracy in
all areas.
Let's look at the picture again. While such violence is at
advanced stage in our country, foreign media is broadcasting more objectively
compared to local media. Our media is not reflecting the scenes as it must be
and it supports the strategies of the government. Despite a lot of injuries and
death,the government still avoid taking a step back.It persistently ignore the
citizens of Republic of Turkey. I hope this excessive violence of both the
government and the police will stop and the citizens' demands will be
satisfied.
I really need to express that your style is so good. The
way you begin your journal makes us focus on the topic. You are interested in
gymnastics and actually do it recently. So as I understand,you are interested
in the topic you write,as well. There is not a big problem about your grammar

Despite economic growth in some areas, Turkey falls behind in political sphere and democracy. Development in economy does not
mean a progress in democratic thinking
and political areas that are significant factors for entire development.
Firstly,
in recent years Turkey has witnessed some setbacks in democracy. Many
journalists have been arrested,which is a hindrance to freethinking and thus being
a democratic society. Additionally, some branches of media and business have
come under the rules of government and people representing many others have got
deprived of freedom and some rights.
Secondly, the strict policy of government
has caused disruptions in governance. The party in power is of the opinion
that; people thinking in the same way with them are good,but others not. Being
antipathetic, such opinion might highly impede the public from participating in
any political issue. It can be also observed that due to policy of government
about other countries, Turkey is regarded as a warlike society.The president's approach to any war in any other country is not peaceful.
Thirdly,recent situation in our country is definitely an obstacle to democracy. A lot of people is striving for their rights,but there is no one to listen to them and their demands. They are explicitly ignored by the government and also shown as evil-minded.What a shame!
On the whole, as a well-known country, Turkey must
give importance todemocratic thinking
and its policy as well as economy.

As it is inferred from the video, ''slow food movement'' mostly concerns about how to enhance quality of food without damaging
resources of the earth. The motto of this movement is ''good,clean,fair food'' and I assure you that it is so close to achieve what is targeted. It aims not only to provide people with reliable food
but also to make it possible to prevent cultivation from dying. I agree on such
a beneficial idea due to the fact that it can really help us to become concious
of what we consume and how it is produced. Firstly, despite developing
techniques and increasing awareness, the importance of some basic needs like
nutrition are dramatically ignored. We say that we have no enough time for
anything and it is waste of time to investigate details of the food we consume.
What we miss is that whether it is safe or not directly affects our
health. By this way, slow food meets the
needs thanks to its organic and healthy content. Secondly, slow food is in
favour of nature during process. Contrary to fast food, production phase of
slow food contains organic farming as stated in the video. That is to say,
there is no pesticide or hormone that causes harm both to items and our earth. In addition to them, another mission of this movement is preserving and even promoting local food items.In their opinion, people sending fast-food away, gets inclined to more local and traditional cuisine that is among our cultural values. For instance,in each region of Turkey where wide range of food served, people still prefer same kind of fast food items,which goes against the concept of slow food movement that aims to prevent localization from disappearing. Rock-paper-scissors was once among the most desirable games;however today,the interest of the young has changed into more technological ones. Thanks to the ones still interested in, the game is luckily not out of date. Also strangely, according to some people, it is thought to be played to decide who is victim. That is to say, think of a situation in which either of twosome is supposed to perform a task.Then the game starts and the winner gets rid of the task while the loser gets obliged to achieve it. Let me give you more details about the rock-paper-scissors. It is the game played by twosome.While playing it, players shape their hands like rock,paper and scissors. First rule is that the ''rock'' runs over the ''scissors'',the scissors cuts the ''paper'',and the paper covers the rock,which composes base of the game. Another rule is that each player is supposed not to show their hands to the other player. In such case, no fair play can occur. Moreover, both player is to show their hands at the same time,so that they can not catch sight of the next action of each other. As for where and when it can be played, I can definitely say that no specific time or place is avaliable. Whenever you get bored, all you should do is finding an opponent to play with. Contrary to the games that are demanding and hard to afford, rock-paper-scissors can easily appeals to your desire of entertainment. better to use ''demand justice'' or ''seek one's

must be a preposition before ''several companies''. Also, ''in the beginnings''

not follow Leyla and Mecnun;but I have watched it several times.As you said, it
contains both funny and sad scenes.Additionally,it is among the best TV series
in Turkey. As for your journal,I should say that I like your explanation and
the video. You really chose a nice scene from Leyla and Mecnun;but it would be
better if you wrote a bit longer.In addition, instead of ''among'', you should use another preposition.Also, in

Nowadays there is an argument about how an ideal university should be. So many ideas are in the limelight; but two concepts are more dominant compared to the others. Generally opposed to each other,they,of course,have common points. Let's analyze these two. First group mentioned is in pursuit of being educated rather than being social. It is educational activities or lessons what attracts them most. Then,what do they desire to get from a university?For instance,well-organized libraries, comfortable study rooms, even compulsory study hours, which does not appeal much to the other group. When it comes to the second group,what they expect is social activities rather than education. This may go against with the orders of education, which,however does not mean that there is no need to have some fun.Actually,the second one appeals to me more, but I can not agree on directly. Maybe some additional factors help you adopt this idea. At this point, METU meets the needs. In Turkey,in terms of facilities, it ranks as the first. Even without leaving the campus, all challenges can be overcome readily. From both educational and social perspectives, METU is exactly dream of many students,like me.That is all about ideal university in my mind. What are your expectations from a university?
''Why not Bosphorus,God!'', I said when came across the result.I was dissatisfied with what I saw,though being aware of the fact that I couldn't have registered to Bosphorus with such grade. METU is not the university which I am eager to attend;but in life there may be some occasions that we can not change but just comply with.By this way,I have drawn a conclusion that makes it easier for me to get accustomed to METU. I have told myself that ''stop complaining about things you can not get rid of,just try to be satisfied with where you are.'' and now I'm definitely aware of what this charming environment will contribute to me. Here,we are supplied with so many activities,student clubs,natural ambiance,facilities like cheap meal at cafeteria and so on.Also academically,we will be so developed that after graduating large companies will ask us to work with them,which means there will be no despair,no indecision.In short,after a period of difficulty I have got used to the atmosphere and I can regard myself as a real piece of METU. Now it is time to mention about pros and cons of METU. At this very moment I feel obliged to state that the students,at least the majority of them,are so helpful that while I was busy with registration,some helped me even a day long. I got informed about transportation,locations of some departments etc thanks to them. Besides,I got no negative response from anybody when being in need of help. Day by day,things I regarded terrible before have turned out to be pleasure. time." But many people generally perceive it as clothing and define it
"wearing what fits them". Actually, it is highly acceptable, because
one can choose what to wear or how to combine their clothes. In my opinion,
there must not be a common decision about fashion. In addition,fashion in all
things are constantly changing and it is not limited to clothing. Different
kinds of games and amusements, styles of furniture, foods and drinks may come
into fashion and go out of fashion. For example; once upon a time
"MARIO" was really popular among the young. But now more
sophisticated games are in demand. Additionally, some expressions may be
accepted out of fashion and they are no more used. This may be because of
religious,cultural or social factors.We can observe many examples of it in
clothing,amusement,technology at any time.
When you first register university,you frequently heard of jokes about pasta. ''Be ready to eat pasta everyday'',''pasta with tomato sauce,pasta with yoghurt or any type you can heard hahaha!'' This really sucks but it is a fact,though. This,however,occurs at student houses where no experienced cooks are available.That is to say, if you are not capable of cooking any demanding meal, then you are bound to eat pasta. Of course,some reasonable factors are determinant for students to cook pasta. They are generally of the opinion that; it is both practical and saticfactory. On the other hand, they are complaining about gaining weigh. Despite its side effects such as gaining weigh or any else, it is obvious that this ''tradition'' will last for long time.
Nowadays, while many people prefer to eat out,others insistently support the idea of cooking at home.Well,it is acceptable that wide range of facilities about food service is provided for us. But,when it comes to health and comfort, cooking at home appeals to us a bit more.Actually, If i were not a student, I would probably prefer cooking at home,too. By doing so, you benefit not only from the comfort of your own home and healthier foods, but also you get the pleasure of cooking by yourself. By cooking at home, you may avoid wasting of money,or at least spend less. You can also try cuisines of other cultures without caring time limit and mess in the kitchen.On the other hand, there may be some situations because of which you have to eat out. Suppose that you have business meeting with a notable businessman. Then,eating at home may not be formal and even it may even bring you to a trouble. So it will definitely be more reasonable to eat out. Think of another point. You are too busy with your homework and have no time to cook at home. At this point,we can not blame you for having some fast food items. On the whole, the choice is yours,but take these situations into regard.

You may have heard its name, tasted it or neither of them. However, if you taste it once, it is impossible not to like it.
We asked one hundred people to taste lahmacun and ninety nine of them said they liked. Of course this is not the case,cause there was no such poll;but we believe in our palate as the Turkish and decided to introduce it to people all around the world.
What kind of a food is Lahmacun?
First of all, it is a Turkish cuisine and specific to Gaziantep.Let's think about a dough on which several types of species, meat, parsley, onion , garlic. With its charming apperance it meets the needs as a appetite, as well. Lahmacun is often served sprinkled with a piece of lemon and wrapped around vegetables, including pickles, tomatoes, lettuce,which is an important factor that makes us consume more. We know you lick your chop,so all you must do is just go to a nearest Turkish restaurant and order a lahmacun or start to make it on your own.
These are “fındık lahmacun” and they are specific to Mersin,Adana regions. They are called “fındık” because they are as small as nut J You can eat one of them at once :) You can find them only Adana,Mersin regions and buy 8 of them only 2€ :)
There are “Antep Lahmacun” and they are bigger than “fındık lahmacun”. They are diffirent from other kinds of Lahmacun because they are hot. You can buy one of them for less than 1€ :)
How to make a Lahmacun?
First of all, you could make lahmacun with tortilla -which is more practical- or you can make your own dough which is more delicious :) :) We will give the recipe for the dough.
Ingredients:
1 kg of ground beef
1 kg onion
2 medium size of tomatoes
1 bunch of parsley
2 green pepper
Tomato paste
Red pepper paste
Black pepper
Salt
For the dough:
4 cups flour
Salt
1/2 cups of warm water
Yeast
Wash and drain tomatoes, onion and parsley.
Take onion and green pepper to bowl and process the food processor until ingredients are finely chopped .
Take them into a big bowl.
Put tomatoes to the food processor and then take the tomatoes to the mixing bowl too.
Chop parsley and take it to the mixing bowl.
Add meat, tomato paste, pepper paste, black pepper, and salt to the mixing bowl and knead them until they are combined. Heat the oven to 250C.
For making your own dough, mix flour, salt, and yeast in a bowl and add warm water slowly.
Cover with plastic wrap and wait to rise for 1 hour and knead it again.
Take a small part of dough (like a lemon) and roll it as large as tortilla.
Then add the mixing to the dough. You can serve lahmacun with ayran and onion salad.
IEEE METU Students Branch is one of the student clubs that are numbered more than 1300 and founded in 80 countries. IEEE METU is connected to the 8h region of IEEE consisting of Africa,Europe,Middle East,and IEEE Turkey Branch and also METU itself. It went into action in 1990 with twelve charter members and it was among the 1150 students branch of IEEE which is the greatest technical organization.Thinking globally,it aims to keep its performance steady and settled. Additionally, the events organized by IEEE contribute a lot to members' intellectual and personal development. Despite its name,Institute of Electric and Electronics Engineering, it welcomes students from every faculty. It adopts systematic growth as its principle and reflects it in every event. These events create tremendous impression in both national and international media by showing everyone how sophisticated organizations it is able to make. Up to now, IEEE METU has experienced the pride of organizing so many successful events through the feeling of social responsibility and it still conserves its prestige. I feel obliged to state that since I first joined this club,I have had more creative ideas and more rational approaches toward any situation. Beside its contributions about personal development, I have made many friends who stand by me against any challenge and I am of the opinion that I pushed the right button by becoming a member of IEEE METU.
As I mentioned in the passage about IEEE METU, we work through feeling of social responsibility. This year, due to international day of people with disabilities, we prepared a set of videos by interviewing with many people at METU. We asked them to reply our questions to figure out whether they are aware of some facts about people with disabilities. In this video, our question was based on sign language translators. '' Do you know where sign language translators are to be for people with disability of hearing. Fortunately,many replied it correctly. Actually, we aimed not to blame these people for being unaware,but to increase conciousness. I and my friends from IEEE got informed about these facts,as well. In this video I shared with you, I voluntarily appeared. I was so excited that there might naturally have been mistakes; however we,as a team, were proud of what we achieved. I wish more videos or events would be prepared by other people to enchance conciousness nationally and globally.
In daily life, we are experiencing some occasions in which we have
difficulties. In such cases, all we should do is keep calm and act as if
anything problematic could be solved. So the key words in this video can
considerably help us in daily life. For the sake of all humankind, power
phrases have an important role in our relationships and we all should take them
into consideration in any case that can be faced in our life. Never forget that
all words have a power and this power is undeniable if we demand better
relationships and a better life.
